How is your French?
This short online test will measure your French listening, reading and grammatical skills. Discover your level and the course most suitable for you. The test takes about 25-30 minutes to complete.
Every new student first meets with our director for a free, 30-minute assessment. This way we can advise you as to which class best suits you.
We use the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL) for our assessments. CEFRL divides learners into multiple levels of proficiency, detailing at each level what learners should be able to achieve in the areas of reading, listening, speaking and writing.
These benchmarks are used by all Alliance Française centres around the world – and many other European language schools – for determining a foreign language learner’s level and progression.
CEFR divides learners into three broad divisions: A, B and C, and generally labelled “beginner, intermediate and advanced”. Each division contains two subdivisions each, for example A1 and A2.
